Global Commerce & Transport Databases

IHS Global Insight's Global Commerce & Transport practice builds and maintains proprietary databases that monitor trade flows around the world. These databases provide detailed trade information for Origin and Destination pairs, mode used for transport, and specific commodities moving between the pairs.

In addition to a historical "base year" series of data, each database provides 20-30 year forecasts. These forecasts are built leveraging IHS Global Insight's 300+ economists, our commerce and transport industry expertise, and ensure that our forecasts reflect the contexts of both the macroeconomic environment and the relevant industry dynamics. It is this combination of detailed historical data assembly, econometric forecast rigor, and our industry expertise that sets our data apart from all other sources

Our databases, and the insight that accompany them, enable users to answer a variety of questions, including:
  • What types of commodities and how much are moving on U.S. roads?
  • What is their point of origin and where are they going?
  • What ports need to expand to meet growing trade?
  • From which regions can I source my materials?
Click on each of the products below to learn more:
  • Transearch: A comprehensive database of freight flows in the United States.
  • World Trade Service: Bi-lateral commodity trade flows for 77 commodities and 54 countries and 16 world regions.
  • U.S. Inland Trade Monitor: Bridges Transearch and the World Trade Service by mapping the inland origin or destination of U.S. imports and exports.
  • Custom Solutions: Leveraging our proprietary data to meet your specific needs
